Leigh Moore is a Career Coach with a Masters degree in Counseling and a Certified Postural Alignment Specialist on the Egoscue® Method. In 2005 Leigh’s chronic knee pain prompted a visit to an orthopedic surgeon and when the doctor recommended a replacement of her right hip, she was stunned. She was in her mid 50’s, had been athletic and active her entire life.
After trying many therapies for a year, Leigh finally elected to have surgery in February, 2006. She loved going out for long walks after her surgery, which alleviated her right knee pain immediately. However, within 6 months, Leigh developed an Achilles tendon injury on her left leg. Her left knee began to be painful. Even though she performed the post-surgery exercises, her body was not balanced. She had appointments with numerous medical and alternative health providers and while they each contributed to temporary relief, none of them had a solution. The imbalance compromised Leigh’s life—restrictions in walking, swimming, lifting more than 10 pounds, doing yard work, traveling, and house cleaning. She was in pain about 90% of the time and unable to sustain any continuous physical activity.
In 2009 Leigh went to India to a meditation retreat and was introduced to some Egoscue® ecises. In early 2010 she began working with an Egoscue® Certified Postural Alignment Specialist where she felt significant changes in her body after only 1 session. She readily committed to the daily ecises and experienced steady improvement. After her initial 8 sessions, she continued with 10 more sessions with her Therapist.
Leigh was so inspired by her success with Egoscue®, that she decided to become a Certified Posture Alignment Specialist in 2010 and enrolled in the Egoscue University’s certification program. She continued working in her career coaching practice over the next 2 years while she worked with Egoscue clients, completed online classes, traveled to Egoscue® University in San Diego to attend week-long courses, and wrote a comprehensive case study report. And renovated not one, but 2 houses!
During her home / office renovations, Leigh worked with an architect and discovered that an Egoscue® principle—form follows function—actually comes from architecture. She also recognized that an architect and a Certified Postural Alignment Specialist have similar roles—guiding a process in the implementation of a design where form follows function. Also, architects are the protector of the design but they don’t do the construction. In Egoscue®, the therapist guides the process based on clients’ ongoing feedback and input but the clients do the work.
Leigh currently works with clients evaluating their posture and designing customized Egoscue® exercise menus to restore natural body alignment and vitality!
